Chris's Big Weekend

Chris had a really big weekend so far. On Thursday he turned 32 years old. Cain and I were scrambling to try and get his Birthday ready but we kind of hit some snags. The boots he wanted were not in stock, the Schwan's man did not bring the Marshmallow Swirl ice cream I had ordered, and he found the sketch I made for his surprise Birthday cake. His boots still are not in, I literally ran the Schwans man down on Friday to get his ice cream, and I continued with my cake but I added a high school picture to it which made it an even bigger surprise.

On Saturday we went to the Northwest Missouri Fair in Bethany to watch a pig show and while we were there Chris got suckered into participating in the Ultimate Farmer Challenge. Chris had to do a lot of manual labor but we left with 3rd place and $50. I told him he was great because he beat out all the guys that were a lot younger than him.

Bye Bye Pacifier

Chris and I have been talking since Cain turned one that we needed to get rid of the pacifier. Since he was 10 months old he usually only had it at night but it still bothered me that he was not learning how to relax on his own and Chris hated the fit he threw when he could not find it. The doctor is the one that gave us the final push by saying it was time and it could take up to 2 weeks before Cain forgot about it. He also said to throw the pacifiers away so we don't break down and give it back to him. On Tuesday night we decided that we would try putting him to sleep without it, after a 1/2 hour of the most saddest sobs I have ever heard I decided that this was not going to be a trial run this was going to be for good because I did not want him to go threw that again. After he finally cried himself to sleep, he woke up at 3 in the morning and Chris layed with him till morning. Since than it has been great, he still looks for it when you put him in crib, he sounds so funny because he repeats "uh-oh" 5 hundred times. Last night he woke up but we let him cry himself back to sleep, I layed there in bed after he went to sleep cuddling the blanket that I have slept with since I was born and realized that if my baby was being so strong than I needed to be too, so after 29 1/2 years I stuffed my blanket under my bed and vowed to put it in a safe place in the morning.

Tractor Crazy

Cain loves everything tractor, he loves his tractor shirt, tractor toys, and most of all riding real ones, big and small. So when we went to the fair we knew that Cain would love the Tractor area where you can look at all the newest models. He loved it more than we ever expected, his whole body went into excited shock when we let him out of the stroller to go play on them. The down part was that he was really tired and he did not have the patience to let others get on the tractor that he wanted to be on, so we had to get him out of there to take a nap. Last night when Chris was putting him to bed he did say one of his first phrases "Night, Night, Tractor."

Yummy Homemade Ice Cream

Father's Day must also be the official opening day for Homemade Ice Cream. I went to the store to get supplies and it looked like everyone had the same idea. Cain loved watching the machine go and sneeking pieces of ice out of it. It was really great to see him eat his first bowl after he woke up from nap. He constantly signed more and finally at the last bite the shivers got the best of him, he had goose bumps and his lips looked like they were turning blue, we quickly got outside to warm up. Cain had his ice cream plain but Chris and I had the ultimate dessert-a piece of strawberry pie with a scoop of ice cream and homemade carmel chocolate sauce on top. It was worth all the thousands of calories that was in it..

I Broke My March Resolution

I know, I know, I said I would blog once a week and it only happened once. In my defence, it drives me crazy to post pictures on blogspot because they never come out in the order I want them too and it takes me an hour to figure it out and by the end I am so irritated that I don't even want to look at my blog again.

Any who, not much has been going on here. Cain is really starting to love the outside and he cries if he has to come inside. He is also becoming a major Daddy's boy, he cries whenever he leaves and he is constantly begging for him to pick him up. He just stands at his feet and yells "UP" until Chris gives in (which isn't very long). The other day he got to hang out with Chris in the garage, he came back inside with a mouthful of miracle grow dirt.

Cain's New Talents

Cain's 1st Birthday Couldn't wait for Summer
Our favorite Smile
Daddy was being very silly
I have decided I need to blog more, all this new stuff is happening with Cain and I am terrible about writing it down so my March resolution is to blog weekly. Cain has done so much in the past month. While we were on vacation he learned to dance, now whenever music comes on the TV he sways back and forth, and everytime you sing his name he head waves. He also started taking a few steps and every day he just took more and more. He would not stand up on his own but once he pulled himself up using furniture or one of us he would start cruising from one thing to the other. Finally during the weekend of 20th I decided he was walking because he would crusing from all the way across the room. Now he only uses walls and furniture to pull himself up. This week he seems to be working on speed which I am kind of dreading, I liked having one foot in front of him. Staying at home has been a real blessing and what I love the most is knowing what he is communicating to me, I know what different grunts mean and some words. His favorite word is ball and dog. We have to look at the neighbors dog 20 times a day. He uses Mama and Dada but not nearly as often. Our newest thing we are working on is blowing kisses, he gets his hand to his mouth and says "mmmmm" but he will not send it to you, it is kind of like his peak-a-boo, he puts his hands over his ear and than spreads his arms out, he just needs a little practice.
